Oppression in Kashmir is even greater than in Palestine: Mushaal
LAHORE, Feb 19 (SABAH): The University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Teaching Staff Association (TSA) organized a seminar on the “Kashmir Issue and the Responsibilies of the International Community.” The event was presided over by UET Vice Chancellor Dr. Shahid Munir, while the chief guest was Mushaal Hussein Mullick, wife of Kashmiri leader Yasin Malik and Chairperson of the Peace and Culture Organization.
Addressing the seminar, Mushaal Mullick highlighted that the oppression in Kashmir is even greater than in Palestine. She stated that global public support is with the Palestinians, but the atrocities in Kashmir remain largely unreported. She questioned whether the voice of Kashmiris is so weak that it fails to reach the world.
She accused Indian intelligence agency RAW and the RSS of being behind terrorist activities in Pakistan. She also pointed out that despite facing a massive Indian military presence of one million soldiers, Kashmiris continue their daily struggle for freedom. Mushaal Mullick criticized the United Nations for its failure to hold India accountable for its actions in Kashmir. She demanded the immediate release of innocent detainees in Kashmir and mentioned that her own mother was the first woman to sacrifice her daughter for the Kashmiri cause. She also shared that she is preparing her daughter, Raziya Sultana, to continue the struggle.
Speaking about water resources, she questioned, “Who has sacrificed for the rivers flowing from India? Whose blood has colored this water?” She urged the youth and the public to stand united for Kashmir, warning that if the world fails to act for Kashmir as it did for Palestine, it should prepare for divine consequences.
In his address, UET Vice Chancellor Dr. Shahid Munir emphasized that no power in the world can defeat human determination. He described Kashmir as an unfinished agenda of the partition of India, highlighting that Pakistan was wronged by Radcliffe and Mountbatten. He noted that the people of Kashmir have always defied the law of force and reminded that India had committed to granting Kashmiris the right to self-determination.
Other speakers at the seminar included Malik Zafar Iqbal Sindhu, Sabin Malik, TSA President Dr. Shoaib, and General Secretary Dr. Tanveer Qasim. A large number of faculty members and students attended the event.
At the conclusion of the seminar, Vice Chancellor Dr. Shahid Munir presented a commemorative shield to Mishal Malik. A special prayer was also offered for the soul of Mishal Malik’s late mother.
