Opposition to celebrate August 14 as the Day of Haqeeqi Azadi

ISLAMABAD, August 09 (SABAH): A meeting of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf led Opposition alliance under the umbrella of the Movement for the Protection of the Constitution of Pakistan was held at the Parliament House.

The meeting was chaired by Mehmood Khan Achakzai, head of the movement. The meeting was attended by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan, Leader of the Opposition Umar Ayub Khan, Opposition Leader in Senate Syed Shibli Faraz, and senior PTI leader and former Speaker of the National Assembly Asad Qaiser, along with leaders of allied parties.

During the meeting held on Friday, a detailed review of the overall political situation in the country was conducted, and the future course of action for the movement was discussed. After the meeting, Leader of the Opposition Umar Ayub Khan spoke to the media, stating that it was decided in the meeting that on August 13, students and youth would come out carrying the Pakistani flag, and they would celebrate August 14 as the Day of Haqeeqi Azadi. Seminars on the Constitution and democracy will be held on August 14. He also mentioned that Bilawal Bhutto is in a state of confusion, enjoying the benefits of being in government. Now that Bilawal Bhutto sees the government’s failure, he is panicking. Unfortunately, the Imam of Masjid al-Nabawi visited, but Bilawal gave a wrong impression about it. Umar Ayub pointed out that today, the allied government of Bilawal increased the electricity price by 2 rupees and 64 paisa. The Leader of the Opposition announced that the symbolic hunger strike camp, which has been ongoing outside Parliament for 13 days, would be suspended.

Speaking to the media, Mehmood Khan Achakzai, head of the Movement for the Protection of the Constitution of Pakistan, stated that there is no doubt that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf is the most popular party in the country, and the successful rally in Swabi has proven this. He mentioned that this is the first alliance that is neither against anyone nor opposed to anyone. He added that the Army Chief and judges are great, may Allah make them even greater, but for us, the Parliament and Pakistan are the greatest. He urged all individuals to come forward and guide them so that Pakistan can be run well.

He further stated that the Supreme Court’s decisions are in accordance with the Constitution and the law. The Supreme Court should take steps to enforce its decisions. Legislation has been made to annul the Supreme Court’s decision, and 41 members of the Assembly will challenge this Election Act legislation. Mehmood Khan Achakzai’s party and other parties will also challenge the legislation. The notification for Justice Mansoor Ali Shah’s appointment as Chief Justice should be issued immediately.

On this occasion, PTI leader Asad Qaiser said that on August 14, Mehmood Achakzai will hold a seminar in Quetta, and the rest of the leadership will hold seminars in other cities. He mentioned that when a full court gives a decision, how can those decisions be altered? We stand with the judiciary and will invite those with serious thoughts to participate in the Haqeeqi Azadi events.
