Only rule of law can lead a country towards progress, prosperity: CJP Umar Ata Bandial


QUETTA, March 20 (SABAH): Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Justice Umar Ata Bandial said on Monday that Pakistanis need to sacrifice for the sake of the country, particularly in the light of current situation of the country.

Addressing an augural ceremony of the new building of Supreme Court’s Quetta Registry, Chief Justice Umar Ata Bandial said only rule of law can lead a country towards progress and prosperity. The Chief Justice reiterated “we should keep our differences aside and stand united for progress and prosperity of the country.” He furthered the state is like a mother who protect its citizens.

He said the judiciary is trying to implement the Constitution and everyone has to contribute for peace in the society. The country can only turn stable and will be developed by [implementing] the rule of law.

The Chief Justice further said the judiciary is trying to implement the Constitution. Truth and honesty should not be left behind, everyone has to contribute for peace and tranquility in the society. “Differences among everyone needs to be resolved. Protecting national institutions is also our job and if the law and the court are not respected, there will be chaos [in the country],” he added.

Chief Justice Umar Ata Bandial further said everyone should walk together in the current situation and sacrifices have to be made for development [of the nation].

It is noteworthy to mention that Chief Justice was welcomed by the Supreme Court Judge Jamal Khan Mandokhil on his arrival. Judges of the Balochistan High Court were also present on the occasion.

At his arrival the Chief Justice was presented a guard of honor by the police, after which he inspected various parts of the newly- constructed building.

Expressing his pleasure over the construction of the Quetta Registry of the apex court, the CJ said that may Allah grant us the opportunity to provide justice in the true sense.
