Objective of celebrating Int’l Volunteers Day is to complement their services for humanity: Muhammad Abdul Shakoor


LAHORE, Dec 05 (SABAH): A number of ceremonies were held across the length and breadth of the country in connection with International Volunteers Day under the auspices of Alkhidmat Foundation Pakistan.

President Alkhidmat Foundation Muhammad Abdul Shakoor said the purpose of holding these ceremonies was to complement the services of volunteers for humanity. He said that volunteers were backbone of every institution and added they have to keep themselves all-set to tackle with the diverse circumstances being the nature of their duty.

He further said the motif of celebrating this day was to highlight the passion of volunteerism and appreciate the readiness of volunteers for dealing with all types of difficult situations. He said that Alkhidmat’s volunteers were front line of it who always kept on rendering numerous sacrifices in difficult situations while putting their lives in danger either in Corona epidemic or everyday accidents or natural calamities. He said more Alkhidmat’s volunteers exceeding 60,000 always assisted the people of the country as for instance during the recent heavy rains and floods they actively participated in rescue and relief actives.

Muhammad Abdul Shakoor said that for inculcating awareness about the significance and need of volunteerism in the society the seventh Alkhidmat Youth Gathering is going to be held in the beginning of next year said and this will be consisting of different sessions. He said that at this event there will be participation of male and female students of universities, vice chancellors, noted motivational speakers, well-know political and social personalities, media persons and people from different walks of life. He said the personalities from across the country with valuable educational inputs will also be especially invited in the programme.
