Number of martyrs affected by their wounds due to Israeli occupation’s closure of Rafah Crossing for 72 days rises to 292:  Govt Media Office Gaza Strip

GAZA, July 18 (SABAH): Government Media Office in Gaza Strip has said that the number of martyrs affected by their wounds due to the Israeli occupation’s closure of the Rafah Crossing for 72 days rises to 292.

The number of martyrs who succumbed to their wounds, having been denied travel by the Israeli occupation for medical treatment abroad due to the closure of the Rafah border crossing for 72 days, has risen to 292. These individuals were among the injured who needed treatment in hospitals outside the Gaza Strip but died while waiting for the Rafah crossing to open.

Since the closure of the Rafah crossing by the Israeli occupation, more than 3,500 patients and injured individuals have been denied travel for medical treatment outside the Gaza Strip. There are 25,000 registered medical transfer requests with the Ministry of Health under the category of travel for medical treatment abroad. However, the closure of the Rafah crossing by the Israeli occupation deprives these individuals of travel for treatment, posing a life-threatening risk to their survival.

The health system is experiencing its worst phase amid the Israeli occupation’s plan and premeditated intention to completely dismantle the health system and disable all hospitals in the Gaza Strip.
