NSC meeting chaired by PM Imran Khan decides to ensure writ of the state at all costs


ISLAMABAD, Oct 29 (SABAH): The National Security Committee (NSC) at its meeting chaired by Prime Minister Imran Khan in Islamabad on Friday decided to ensure writ of the state and maintain law and order at all costs.

 

This was stated by Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed, while briefing the media persons in Islamabad on Friday, about the NSC meeting, which met to review the situation arising out of closure of roads by the proscribed Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan.

He said that talks with the banned organization have so far remained inconclusive, but there is a possibility of more talks today. He said the government believes in defusing the situation peacefully. 

He said Rangers have been given powers under Anti-Terrorism Act to assist the civil administration in Punjab. He said Rangers will act under the Punjab Government.  He said rangers enjoy all the powers to maintain law and order. 

Replying a question, Sheikh Rashid said that the whole world knows the French ambassador is not present in Pakistan, France is heading the European Union, Pakistan is facing problems and more people will be affected in result of movements. He said that the question of French embassy has been moved in the assembly for debate and it is evident that the opposition will not come and will not take part in voting and problem will remain present there. He said that TLP is coming to Islamabad 7th time, adding that the government also has some responsibilities, adding that the children go to school, people go out for business and people come to Islamabad from Rawalpindi and from Islamabad to Rawalpindi and people are facing sheer problems, adding that TLP should review their stance.  

Sheikh Rashid said that PM Imran Khan address the nation today (Saturday) or tomorrow (Sunday) and will present the current situation in front of masses and his narrative will be the narrative of whole government. Replying a question, Sheikh Rashid said that of course the negotiations are also being held with Saad Rizvi and I had talked with him in Lahore. He said that the march of TLP is continuing and they are present at Gakhar Mandi, adding that the TLP should stop the march and should wait for the results of the negotiations, adding that the government wants to resolve the matters amicably.  

Meanwhile Sheikh Rashid said Prime Minister Imran Khan will also take the nation into confidence over the matter. Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmad has said anti-Islam forces are hatching conspiracies against Pakistan as it was a nuclear power and a strong fort of Islamic world.

Talking to a private news channel, he said the supporters of banned TLP should go back and avoid taking law into their hands. Interior Minister said all possible measures would be taken to ensure writ of the government.

Replying to a question about banned TLP demands, Sheikh Rashid said a resolution had been presented before the assembly. To another question about French ambassador, he said the ambassador had gone back to his country. He said the government will take all possible steps to ensure peace and tranquility in the country.

To a question about calling Rangers in Punjab, he said the Rangers are responsible to protect lives and property of the citizen. He said we will stop the march towards Islamabad at all costs.
