Not technocrats but holding free, fair & transparent polls are solution to country’s problems: Sirajul Haq
ISLAMABAD, Jan 06 (SABAH): Emir Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan Sirajul Haq has said that technocrats were not solution to the country’s problems and only holding free, fair and transparent elections could take the country out of prevailing problems.
Emir Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan Sirajul Haq expressed these views during an interview with a private TV channel. Electoral reforms were a must ahead of general elections, he said, and furthered those who looted the national wealth must be held accountable.
He went on to say that there was a dire need of putting place a comprehensive accountability system and those who looted the national wealth should not be again allowed to take part in the elections.
He further deplored who will undertake the responsibility of accountability as Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) disarmed the institutions as well as Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) made such institutions ineffective.
Sirajul Haq said here in this land of our no-one was in favour of accountability terming it a major dilemma, adding the central and provincial governments were not carrying out negotiations regarding the major issues of the country as it didn’t fall in their priorities. Their prevailing hustle and bustle was not more than eyewash and for the sake of satisfying the masses, he added.
There were numerous issues confronted by the country – terrorism, law and order, economy but they were never debated in the National Assembly, he said and added politics of allegations was ruling the roost. Building of current democratic system was standing on the basis of pack of falsehood which was why all were getting exposed.
He said the rulers had nothing with them except that of abusing and putting forth new scandals against one another. Emir Jamaat-e-Islami said that 15 parties had held the whole nation hostage – some at the centre while others at provinces.
Sirajul Haq said that at Lahore, Karachi, Hyderabad, Quetta, Peshawar and Islamabad, the people were forced to stand in queues for buying flour for them but the rulers don’t feel their pain by lingering on what was going on. For the sake of playing politics; the rulers forge everyday hot topics for the masses to remain them indulge in them, he added.
Sirajul Haq said that they condemned the attack on the former prime minister and Chairman PTI Imran Khan as they have been opposing the politics of oppression since day one, adding, ‘we talk about the reasoning and forbearance.’ Those who perpetrated attacks against Imran Khan were not brought forth before the masses till-date, he added.
