No-confidence motion was changing color like a chameleon: Liaqat Baloch

LAHORE, Mar 02 (SABAH): Deputy Chief of Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan and former parliamentary leader Liaqat Baloch said that Prime Minister Imran Khan announced reduction in petrol and electricity prices. First, the prices were increased and the pockets of the people were plundered. If increase was inevitable, then how will the gap in government revenue be bridged after reduction? The government is under pressure. It took anti-people action under the pressure of the IMF. While, now there is pressure from long marches, public protests, sit-ins and public reaction, the government takes U-turn. The country and the people are in deficit due to ad hocism, incompetence and mismanagement. The announcement of price reduction is a drama to avoid public reaction. The government should compensate for the loss of the people due to the increase in prices.

Liaqat Baloch said that the government is not tolerant of consultation with stakeholders for legislation, national security policy, social, administrative and electoral reforms. PECA law is dictatorial, undemocratic and one-sided. Attacking the freedom of the media in the name of rectifying the flaws has been the way of the rulers of every age. The PECA Law (Amendment) Ordinance has been rejected by all stakeholders. The government should take back the black law. National dialogue on national priorities is essential to make the system of government, the national political front, and journalism accountable.

Talking to delegations of political activists, Liaqat Baloch said that the no-confidence motion was changing color like a chameleon. In a troublesome scenario, Imran Khan’s address to the nation in the ongoing troublesome political scenario, his hasty visits to the doors of allies and telephone calls are manifestations of the fact that the ground of power is slipping from the steps of the government. Liaqat Baloch said that whatever the outcome of the no-confidence motion be, it is clear that uncertainty, political turmoil, rifts between government members and allies are deepening the political and economic crisis. When the government has failed, political uncertainty is deepening, then instead of harming the country and the nation, the people should be approached for a new public mandate.
