Neither the crises country facing would end with holding of Feb 8, 2024 general elections nor real democracy could be established: Dr. Ijaz Shafi Gilani
ISLAMABAD, Feb 1 (SABAH): Neither the crises the country is facing would end with holding of Feb 8, 2014 general elections nor real democracy could be established. Honorary Chairman of Gallup Pakistan and Gilani Research Foundation Dr. Ijaz Shafi Gilani has given a suggestion in the light of analysis of 11 general elections from 1970 to 1918 that 40 sub provinces should be established to deal with the crises the country is facing.
Dr. Ijaz Shafi Gilani in his new book General Elections of Pakistan has given roadmap of real democracy and stability in the light of instability continuing from elections of 1970 to 2018. Book launching ceremony of Dr. Ijaz Shafi Gilani’s book was conducted at Islamabad Club.
Politicians, ambassadors and bureaucrats also participated in the ceremony including former Senator Farhatullah Khan Babar and Senator Saadia Abbasi. In his address, Dr. Ijaz Shafi Gilani told the participants that political journey of 1970 to 2018 is still underway in 2024. Now preparations of new elections are underway.
In the country, 12th general elections are going to be held. Circumstances say there is no change in the situation. Anarchy of rule and game of powers will continue. In the country there are 120 million voters and there are 272 National Assembly seats and by and large there are 550 provincial assembly seats while there are 100 seats of Senate but there are a large number of people who wish to apply for these seats. There are 4000 to 5000 candidates of National Assembly.
Currently, Pakistan is facing political, social and administrative crisis and general elections of 2024 could not put an end to the multi-pronged crises. The government which would be formed in the result of these elections would not be acceptable to the majority of people of the country then how crises would come to an end. For ending the crises, there should be established 40 sub provinces as in this way the people will be free and independent.
Other than this the newly formed government should use first two years and after two years, the government should itself announce new elections in the country. In this way the parties which would have faced defeat in the elections would be able to accept deprivation with open heart.
