Negotiation committee of JI has clarified on the govt that the business of IPPs should have be ended: Hafiz Naeemur Rehman
RAWALPINDI, August 08 (SABAH): Emir Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan Engineer Hafiz Naeemur Rehman has said that the negotiation committee of JI has clarified on the government that the business of independent power producers (IPPs) should have be ended, adding that due to these agreements Pakistan has been badly affected. He said that the nation has been looted through fake and fraudulent agreements. Hafiz Naeemur Rehman said that the foremost purpose of our sit-in is to ensure relief for the people. He said that the government agrees with our demands but when we place suggestions regarding the resolution of the problems the government starts going right and left.
This was stated by Hafiz Naeemur Rehman while addressing a press conference on the 14th day of the JI sit-in going on in front of Liaqat Bagh Rawalpindi. Secretary General Jamaat-e-Islami Ameerul Azim, Naib Emirs of JI Liaqat Baloch, Mian Muhammad Aslam, Dr. Osama Razi, Deputy Secretary Generals of JI Azhar Iqbal Hassan, Sheikh Usman Farooq, Secretary Information JI Qaiser Sharif, Emir JI Central Punjab Javed Kasuri, Emir JI North Punjab Dr. Tariq Saleem and other leaders of JI were also present on the occasion.
Hafiz Naeemur Rehman said that Rs 14 billion are being received for Bhasha Dam annually, adding that the dam has not been constructed but the money has been started retrieving from the pockets of the nation. He said that it has been clarified on the negotiation committee that no ambiguous thing will be done. He said that whatever will be done for the acceptance of the demands will be in written form and government will be bound to honor it. He said that it is amazing thing that the salaried class pays the tax on salaries and also pays the tax on flour, sugar, pulses, ghee and matchboxes, adding that this double, triple tax system has to be ended. He said that the people are worried and this volcano could blast at any time and then the circumstances will not be in control of anyone.
Hafiz Naeemur Rehman said that what 1,400 employees of FBR are doing, adding that FBR committed corruption of Rs 1299 billion and did not receive the tax from big elephants. He said that why FBR puts whole burden on the masses and why big mafias are exempted. Hafiz Naeemur Rehman said that this sit-in is the voice of all, adding that we will not call off this sit-in and will also not retreat from it, adding that we will carry out march and will also hold public gathering. He said that it is the responsibility of the government to accept the demands and instead of anarchy and unrest should welcome the peaceful constitutional struggle. Hafiz Naeemur Rehman said that our all seven demands should be accepted and nothing less will be negotiated.
