Nawaz Sharif to return back to country ahead of general elections to lead party’s electoral campaign: Ahsan Iqbal


ISLAMABAD, Aug 27 (SABAH): Secretary General of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and former federal minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives, Ahsan Iqbal Chaudhry has said that former prime minister and PML-N supremo Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif would return back to Pakistan ahead of general elections in the country to lead the party’s electoral campaign.

Ahsan Iqbal Chaudhry expressed these views during an interview with a private TV channel. He further said that Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif is a seasoned politician of the country and Pakistan needed him. He continued that former prime minister would come back to the country at all costs.

When Council of Common Interests (CII) had approved the new Digital Census then each and everyone knew that it is constitutional requirement to carryout the new delimitations, he noted and added as it is a constitutional need, therefore, no-one should not play politics on this issue. “In my own view, I am in favour of providing Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) an opportunity to contest elections. We would defeat the PTI politically,” he added.

The former minister said that Nawaz Sharif was disqualified through a conspiracy in 2017 as this secret has been unfolded at present and added all development, they made including ending load-shedding and restoration of economy during 2013 and 2017 was rolled back while throwing the country in the swamp of uncertainty. He added Nawaz Sharif is a seasoned politician of the country and continued Pakistan would benefit from him.

A thinking prevails in the party that Nawaz Sharif should come back to the country ahead of electoral drive, he noted and added as electoral schedule has disturbed due to delay in constituencies which is why program of his return back to the country has been cancelled but it is for sure that he would return ahead of polls to lead the party’s electoral drive.

PML-N’s Secretary General further said that Nawaz Sharif would brief the nation that how much they to pay the price of the way which was adopted while putting aside the path of development which the PML-N adopted during 2013-2017 and added perhaps, “we would continue to suffer till next 10 years as inexperienced leadership was imposed on the country which caused huge losses.”

Ahan Iqbal expressed his optimism that a strong government would be put in place in result of the elections which would have know how of economy as well as mandate of five years. “Former prime minister and Chairman PTI Imran Khan was a sportsman and we were expecting of him to introducing some new traditions in the politics of the country but he boosted fascism while encouraging the politics of one-party State which resulted into worse polarization at each and every level in the country,” he added.
