Nawaz Sharif had suffered more days of hardship instead of remaining in power corridors: Maryam Nawaz

LAHORE, Oct 08 (SABAH): Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Senior Vice President and Party’s Chief Organizer Maryam Nawaz Sharif has expressed optimism on Sunday about the return of her father, Nawaz Sharif, to Pakistan on October 21, aiming to bring an end to what she referred to as a “seven-year period of prolonged sorrow”. She said that Nawaz Sharif remained 11 years in exile during his life.

Addressing a big public gathering at Thokar Niaz Beg area of Lahore, Maryam Nawaz remarked that Nawaz Sharif had suffered more days of hardship instead of remaining in power corridors, emphasising former prime minister’s commitment to the nation’s well-being.

Maryam highlighted the PML-N’s economic achievements under Nawaz Sharif’s leadership and challenged the audience to recall any other prime minister who had successfully reduced the prices of essential commodities.

Amidst an enthusiastic crowd displaying placards bearing Nawaz Sharif’s images, Maryam expressed her anticipation of the joyous reception her father would receive upon his return on October 21.

Taking a swipe at the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government, Maryam accused the previous administration of appointing individuals who resorted to using offensive language against the then opposition.

Branding them as “jokers,” Maryam claimed that the health card initiative was started by her father which was hijacked later by the PTI government, adding that the former ruling party wrongfully took credit for its success. She said that the country was ruled by jokes for four years.

Maryam Nawaz said that during the four year last tenure of Nawaz Sharif in government, the sugar price remained at Rs 50 per kg, flour price at Rs 35 per kg, adding that the dollar price remained at Rs 105 during the four years tenure of Nawaz Sharif. She said that the inflation rate was only 2 percent during the tenure of Nawaz Sharif. She said that Nawaz Sharif started the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project, adding that Pakistan was made nuclear power by Nawaz Sharif. She said that terrorism was eradicated from the country during the tenure of Nawaz Sharif. She said that the fake prime minister was used to handover big ministries to those who used to abuse the opponents. She said that after committing dacoity on the vote of Nawaz Sharif in 2018, the government was handed over to the watch thief. She said that those who were used to make fun of ours are themselves facing bad time today, adding that we will not make their fun in bad time.

Maryam Nawaz said that Nawaz Sharif has not come while being imported from abroad, adding that Nawaz Sharif is the son of this soil, adding that no one formed Nawaz Sharif through foreign funding from abroad. She said that if the price of petrol, electricity and gas is increased the masses are remembering Nawaz Sharif, adding that the people are waiting Nawaz Sharif’s return.
