Nation to not accept extension of current system or of interim setup as well as suspension of election on pretext of abnormal situation: Sirajul Haq
LAHORE, Aug 01 (SABAH): Emir Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan Sirajul Haq has stated that terrorism and anarchy have badly impacted millions of people; however, the nation would not accept extension of current system or that of interim setup as well as suspension of elections on the pretext of abnormal circumstances.
Sirajul Haq expressed these views while addressing training workshop at Mansoorah on Tuesday. He further stated that holding of free, fair and transparent polls was a way to sort out hardships being faced by our homeland at present.
He was of the view that masses were upset by the rulers and that the country needed stability. He warned that terrorism could also affect the entire country after Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, stressing upon the political forces to sit together for restoration of peace in this land of ours.
Emir Jamaat-e-Islami is going to pay a visit to Bahawalpur on Thursday [August 3] where he would hold meetings with the parents of university students alongside addressing the public gathering.
He once again demanded of the incumbent government that elements involved in Islamia University Bahawalpur’s incident must be given exemplary punishment and added the educational institutions should be purged of narcotics, nudity and blackmailing.
Sirajul Haq rejected increase in petrol and diesel prices by Rs 20 per liter and stated while departing, Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) thrown petrol bomb on the masses after raising electricity price.
Moreover, he stated that ruling parties before coming into power carried out long marches against inflation and now that they were leaving the power; edibles were fully beyond the access of layman. Instead of providing relief to the masses, the soon going government on directions of International Monetary Fund (IMF) was hell bent upon squeezing blood of people, he deplored, and added in wake of this situation the people were being forced on committing suicides.
Sirajul Haq maintained that rulers didn’t curtail their perks and privileges even a little bit and added they spent billions of rupees on their foreign visits, government pilgrimage schemes, protocol and free-of-cost electricity and petrol while myriad taxes were imposed on nation. He added the nation would hold these rulers accountable during the elections.
