Nation is suffering punishment of incompetence of rulers, IPPs are not compulsion of govt, it is incompetence & corruption: Hafiz Naeemur Rehman
RAWALPINDI, July 30 (SABAH): Emir Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan Hafiz Naeemur Rehman has said that the whole nation is suffering the punishment of the incompetence of the rulers, IPPs are not the compulsion of the government but incompetence and corruption. He said it is not possible that the people will pay a heavy bill, adding the government should take steps soon, otherwise the scope of the sit-in will increase, in the second phase we will sit on the highways.
Hafiz Naeemur Rehman, while holding a press conference on the fifth day of Liaqat Bagh Rawalpindi sit-in, said that these people also impose taxes on food and drink items, they imposed up to 18% tax on basic food items including on children’s milk. After that, he said people should eat, drink, pay the bills or pay the house rent.
He said leave the small businessmen alone, now even the big businessmen are saying that our industry is not running because of the cruel policy of the government. As a result, industries are closing. Hafiz Naeemur Rahman said that the government says that we have compulsions, it is not compulsions but incompetence and corruption that the entire nation is suffering, while our ministers declare that they cannot talk to IPPs.
He said that these agreements started during the PPP regime, first agreements were made with 35 companies and then during the Musharraf era, 45 companies and then during the Nawaz Sharif era, 120 companies were discussed. He said these people say that we cannot bring those agreements before the nation, adding you can squeeze the nation’s blood, increase the bills, but no agreements can be brought forward.
Emir Jamaat-e-Islami said, “I thank the founder PTI for his appreciation of our sit-in. We are in contact with Tehreek-e-Tahufuz-e-Ain Pakistan. They should come here, we will welcome them. It is our justified stand that we are not going to be part of some coalition but Tehreek-e-Tahufuz-e-Ain Pakistan talks about new elections which is tantamount to quitting stand on Form 45.”
