Nasim Zehra announces to take legal action against Moeed Pirzada for making false & defamatory statements against her
ISLAMABAD, April 30 (SABAH): Prominent journalist and anchor Nasim Zehra has said that she has instructed her counsel to take legal action against journalist and Youtuber Dr. Moeed Pirzada for making false and defamatory statements against her in a vlog. Moeed Pirzada had leveled baseless allegations against Nasim Zehra during Haider Mehdi’s vlog on April 23, which prompted her to take legal action.
In her twitter statement on Sunday, Nasim Zahra announced to pursue legal action against Moeed Pirzada. Before this, Nasim Zehra had announced to file a defamation suit against Pirzada in the United States court.
Through social media platform, twitter she stated, “I will InshaAllah shortly be filing a defamation suit in a US Court against Moeed Pirzada for slander against me in Haider Mehdi’s Youtube program aired on April 23rd. Ignoring such vile slander would be inexcusable. InshaAllah in a few hours I also will be doing a vlog on this matter.”
In her short video, Nasim Zehra calmly addressed the four charges leveled against her by Pirzada during a recent vlog. She stated that she must respond to what she believes is slander.
The lawsuit comes in response to remarks made by Pirzada during Haider Mehdi’s vlog on April 23. Pirzada, in his comments, referred to a discussion between Zehra and senior journalist, columnist and anchorperson Hamid Mir on a TV channel as rubbish and deliberate and scripted.
Nasim Zehra had called for a court martial of former army chief General (Retd) Qamar Javed Bajwa. Pirzada questioned who had instructed Zehra to call for Bajwa’s court martial and alleged that the discussion was planned and scripted to support establishment and PDM leaders including former president Asif Ali Zardari. He also pointed out that three channels, including 24 News HD TV, belonged to Punjab Caretaker Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi, who has the support of Zardari and other PDM leaders, and that he was close to establishment nowadays.
Nasim Zahra said Pirzada had hurled a serious allegation against her which cannot be ignored and continued if he had not understood what she wanted to convey then he must have asked me to brief him about the real issue. I don’t want to resort to courts for teasing people but now it has become necessary. “May Almighty Allah give me courage and understanding to handle this matter. With the will of Almighty Allah, I will respond,” she added.
