Naib Emir JI AJK Mahmoodul Hassan Chaudhry laid to rest in Kotli, Azad Kashmir, his funeral prayers offered in Islamabad, Kotli & Gawan
KOTLI, April 7(SABAH): Mahmoodul Hassan Chaudhry, Naib Emir Jamaat-e-Islami Azad Jammu and Kashmir, was laid to rest in Kotli, Azad Kashmir on Monday. He passed away on Sunday after a prolonged illness. He had been undergoing treatment at CMH Rawalpindi.
His funeral prayer was first held after Asr prayers at the Jamaat-e-Islami Azad Jammu and Kashmir headquarters in Khanna, near Burma Pull, Lehtrar Road, Islamabad. It was led by former emir Jamaat-e-Islami Azad Kashmir, Abdul Rashid Turabi. A large number of political and social figures, along with people from various walks of life, attended the funeral.
Later, on Monday morning at 10:00 AM, a second funeral prayer was held at Sikandar Hayat Sports Stadium in Kotli. The gathering was addressed by Chief Justice of the Azad Kashmir High Court, Sadaqat Hussain Raja, Emir Jamaat-e-Islami Azad Kashmir Dr. Muhammad Mushtaq Khan, Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan leader Mian Maqsood Ahmed, former member of the legislative assembly Malik Nawaz, and several other prominent personalities who paid tribute to the late Mahmoodul Hassan Chaudhry. A third funeral prayer was offered after Zuhr in Gawan.
Mahmoodul Hassan Chaudhry belonged to the Raj Mahal constituency of Kotli and was buried in Kotli, Azad Kashmir. His wife, Riffat Aziz, is a former member of the Legislative Assembly of Azad Jammu and Kashmir. Late Mahmoodul Hassan Chaudhry held various key positions, including, former Nazim of Islami Jamiat Talaba Azad Jammu & Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan, former Nazim of Punjab University, Lahore, former Emir of Jamaat-e-Islami, District Kotli, former President of the District Bar Association, Kotli, former General Secretary of Jamaat-e-Islami Azad Jammu & Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan and Naib Emir Jamaat-e-Islami Azad Jammu & Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan
