Naeemur Rehman stresses upon PPP to admit Jamaat-e-Islami mandate

KARACHI, Mar 28 (SABAH): Jamaat-e-Islami Karachi chapter Emir Engr. Hafiz Naeemur Rehman has said that Jamaat-e-Islami admits mandate of PPP hence it should also embrace their mandate.

Engr. Hafiz Naeemur Rehman expressed these views while addressing a press conference, reacting to the rigging in Karachi’s polls, stay order of Islamabad High Court (IHC) and census issue, at Noor E Haq institute on Tuesday. On this occasion, General Secretary Munim Zafar Khan, Naib Emir Karachi Raja Arif Sultan, Deputy Secretary Karachi Younas Barai and others were present.

Rehman deplored that Karachi has always been deprived of its rights as for instance dwellers of the city were not being provided with employments. He reiterated his resolve that Jamaat-e-Islami will not allow to occupy its won seats of the city and added that it would use all legal and democratic routes to safeguard each and every vote as well as seat.

Raising his skepticism on the ongoing census, he argued the people must be counted wherever they are residing. Emir Jamaat-e-Islami Karachi said that he will personally appear in the hearing regarding IHC’s decision on stay order on recounting. He also stressed upon the chief election commissioner to act in the light of rules and regulations.

He remarked, “Karachities have always expressed their confidence in Jamaat-e-Islami and added it will not disappoint them. Suspended elections on 11 seats must be conducted according to the issued schedule. Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) was once again on the run whereas Jamaat-e-Islami will actively participate in the elections. Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf needs to become part of petition.”

Jamaat-e-Islami is a single party which is capable of taking along all the parties and deplored it was a bad omen for the country that ECP was working as B team of PPP. Expressing his concerns over putting deaf ears by the ECP, he said instead of rectifying the rigged and tampered ballot papers results it issued decision for recounting.

He said Jamaat-e-Islami had demanded that bags of six union councils be taken from ROs and DROs but this was not done and due to delaying tactics, PPP’s ROs and DROs changed the votes. He said that Jamaat-e-Islami raised objections on 66 polling stations of six UCs but ECP issued decision for recounting only for 17 stations whereas they was no issue regarding recounting on six seats of west Karachi. Order for recounting was issued after it was kept reserved for two months.

“Orangi seats results were changed by ROs and DROs in connivance with the PPP. We will disclose each and everyone including ECP, PPP and the government institutions involved in stealing people mandate,” he added. He furthered the PPP and MQM have always found to be ready for installing their administrators but they were hell-bent upon not giving rights to the dwellers of the city.

He demanded access for all political parties to the census data. He disclosed that there was a conspiracy this time too to not show the real population of Karachi and Hyderabad.

Engr Hafiz Naeemur Rehman said that port city was facing the worst kind of inflation which has further worsened in the holy month of Ramazan, and added that Jamaat-e-Islami established ‘Susta Bazaar’ in the different areas of the city in an effort to provide relief to the people.  He also stressed upon the government to overcome inflation in the country to give relief to the masses.
