NAB should have closed the Narowal Sports City reference far ago: Ahsan Iqbal

ISLAMABAD, Aug 21 (SABAH): Secretary General of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives, Ahsan Iqbal Chaudhry has said that National Accountability Bureau (NAB) should have closed the Narowal Sports City reference far ago. Ahsan Iqbal said that he was acquitted by the Islamabad High Court in the Narowal Sports City reference in 2022, but the NAB Reference was pending the Accountability Court.

Ahsan Iqbal expressed these views in a special interview with “SABAH”. Officers who were implicated in the case were going through the agony of a groundless trial in which the main accused had been acquitted by the Islamabad High Court two years ago. This is an example of how Imran Khan spent millions of rupees on baseless cases and assassinated his opponents. Today Imran Khan is imprisoned in the same cell in which he imprisoned me.

Ahsan Iqbal said that NAB finally withdrew the reference on this point. Ahsan Iqbal said that NAB should have closed this reference only when the Islamabad High Court acquitted me in 2022.

It should be noted that the Accountability Court Islamabad closed the Narowal Sports City reference against Federal Minister for Planning Ahsan Iqbal on behalf of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) after 4 years on Tuesday. Accountability Court Judge Nasir Javed Rana approved the request of NAB to close the reference. The case against former DG Sports Board Akhtar Nawaz Ganjira has also ended.
