Mushaal Mullick seeks formation of People’s Alliance against occupations in Kashmir, Palestine

ISLAMABAD, April 08 (SABAH): Mushaal Hussein Mullick, the wife of senior Hurriyat leader Muhammad Yasin Malik, urged all civil society groups in Pakistan and the Muslim world to form a ‘People’s Alliance’ against the relentless and unceasing oppression and suppression unleashed by Indian and Israeli fascist regimes in the occupied Kashmir and Palestine, respectively.

Speaking at a rally on International Palestine Day, Mushaal Hussein Mullick, who is also the Chairperson of the Peace and Culture Organisation, said that both occupying regimes are following the same path and adopting identical policies to suppress the legitimate freedom movements and prolong their unlawful occupations in their respective occupied territories.

The Chairperson pointed out that Palestinians accepted the international pledge for peace and signed a ceasefire agreement with Israel. However, she added that this mutually agreed agreement had been unilaterally thrown in the dust-bin by Israel in defiance of all international laws. “Apparently, Israel is taking a leaf from the book of India, when Kashmiris under international assurance resorted to ceasefire with Indian Armed Forces in 1990s but latter on, the notorious Indian government unilaterally violated the ceasefire, disregarding all international laws and obligations,” Mushaal recalled.

The Hurriyat leader lamented that Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) and Palestine have been converted into killing fields and slaughter houses where unarmed and innocent people including women, children and elderly people are being slaughters and tortured by the occupying forces with complete impunity without any fear of accountability.

Mushaal revealed that over 70,000 people have been killed in the occupied valley since 1989, adding that around 350 civilians have been martyred only between 2020 and September 2024, besides injuring and torturing thousands during crackdowns and curfews.
She stated that gravity of the situation could be evident from the fact that sexual violence is used as a weapon of war and intimidation, as over 11,000 women have been raped or molested by Indian forces since 1989, while around 100 women were gang-raped in Kunan Poshpora, Kupwara in 1991 only.

Similarly, Mushaal narrated that in 2009, two women were abducted in Shopian, raped, and later they were killed, adding that in 2018, an 8-year-old girl, Asifa Bano, was abducted, gang-raped, and murdered.
The Chairperson stated that in 2020 alone, a total of 243 rape cases involving 247 victims, 449 cases of women kidnapped to force them into marriage and 1,744 cases of assault intended to outrage modesty were reported. He highlighted that over 23,000 women have been widowed and thousands of half-widows as a result of violence and forcibly disappearing their husbands in custody since 1989, while thousands have been forcibly displaced from their homes due to military operations and demographic changes.

Mushaal Mullick lamented that the occupation authorities completely isolated the entire region from the outside world through internet throttling and suppressing media. The Hurriyat leader asserted that the notorious Indian regime turned the IIOJK into a garrison city, where the occupying forces were trampling the laws and constitution under their feet because they were given license to kill and torture Kashmiri innocent people to create panic and fear in order to silence the dissenting voice in the valley. She lamented that world powers and UN bodies were complicit in the worst human rights violations and war crimes being orchestrated by the two rogue states; otherwise, they would have stood by the Kashmiri and Palestinian people, just as they extended full support to the Ukrainian people.

However, Mushaal expressed her disappointment that even the hopes of oppressed Muslims in the governments of Islamic countries are now fading. Therefore, she stressed that now is the right time for civil societies in Muslim nations to join hands and develop a united strategy to confront India and Israel. The Hurriyat leader stressed that criminal cases against Israeli and Indian regimes must be registered across the globe, besides launching aggressive digital activism to identify and target their interests in the Muslims world. “I will contact all civil society groups in Pakistan and the Muslim world to establish a People’s Alliance against these world’s worst oppressions,” she concluded.
