RAWALPINDI, August 26 (SABAH): Special Assistant to the Caretaker Prime Minister on Human Rights and Women and Empowerment Mushaal Hussein Mullick directed Adiala Jail administration to provide all possible legal assistance to the prisoners.
SAPM on HR and Women Empowerment on Saturday paid a surprise visit to Adiala jail and reviewed the facilities being provided to the inmates.
Talking to media, Mushaal Mullick said that she visited different barracks of the Jail including the barracks of juveniles and women.
The number of jail inmates is 6800 including 500 prisoners from Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KP) who are being monitored through 150 cameras, she was informed.
“I also inquired from the juvenile prisoners about educational activities besides the behavior of the jail administration with women prisoners along with the provision of food and health facilities,” she said.
She also said that the jail authorities started various educational courses for the prisoners along with vocational training courses.
SAPM on HR and women Empowerment stated that human rights of prisoners were close to her heart as she had been fighting for the rights of Kashmiri prisoners illegally detained in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).
“Jail is the first home of my husband Muhammad Yasin Malik and IIOJK Kashmir is the biggest prison in the world where innocent Kashmiris are spending their lives without any legal assistance and basic facilities, she maintained.
Mushaal went on to say that the rights of minorities were being violated in India and human rights organizations kept criminal silence over the reign of terror unleashed by fascist Indian authorities on Kashmiri people in IIOJK.
The SPAM on HR said that she also visited those barracks where high profile prisoners were kept and instructed the jail authorities to ensure a conducive environment in the prison so that they could be made responsible citizens of the society.
