Murtaza Solangi says elections will be held on 8th February 2024

ISLAMABAD, Dec 23 (SABAH): Caretaker Minister for Information and Broadcasting Murtaza Solangi says no one should have any doubts regarding change in the election schedule.

Talking to journalists in Islamabad on Saturday, Murtaza Solangi categorically said the elections will be held on 8th February 2024.

The Minister said future of the country is linked with the constitution and democracy. He said it is written in the preamble of the constitution of Pakistan that this country will be run by its elected representatives.

The Minister said the constitution doesn’t allow the extension in interim government’s term. He further said only the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has the authority to give, change and extend the date of elections.

Meanwhile Murtaza Solangi has said that medical facilities are being provided to the Baloch protestors.

Participating in a private television program, the minister said our aim is to send the protestors safe back to their homes which was refused by them. He said we assured the protestors that their long standing issues would be resolved.

Murtaza Solangi said the caretaker government will try its best to solve this in its limited term.

To a question regarding the general elections in the country, the information minister reiterated the commitment of the government with regard to the holding of free, fair and transparent general elections on February 8 next year.
