Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai was a symbol of Tehreek-e-Islami as well as ‘Freedom Movement’: Syed Salahuddin
MUZAFFARABAD/SRINAGAR, May 4 (SABAH): Hizbul Mujahideen Chief and Muttahida Jihad Council Chairman, Syed Salahuddin Ahmed has said that Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai aka Sehrai Sahib was a symbol of Tehreek-e-Islami as well as ‘Freedom Movement’. He said the former devoted all this life for the enforcement of Islam.
Syed Salahuddin expressed these views while addressing a number of special gatherings of Muttahida Jihad Council and Hizb Commander Council here on Thursday. He further said that Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai was close aid of renowned leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani and he passed most part of his life in jails and torture cells but he never compromised on his principles as well as ideologies.
One of his sons Junaid Sehrai embraced martyrdom one year ago of his martyrdom on May 19, 2020, he noted, and added his entire family faced barbaric acts from the government of India but they always demonstrated patience and forbearance and finally was martyred on May 5, 2021.
“Indeed his martyrdom created a great vacuum but it is also a fact that he trained millions of Sehrai who were committed to defeat ultimate deception as well as determined till the achievement of goal,” he remarked. “God-willing Sehrai Sahib’s sacrifices and sacred efforts would not be allowed to go in vain as history records that blood of martyrs is never wasted,” he added.
Meanwhile, death anniversary of Tehreek Hurriyat Jammu and Kashmir’s former chairman Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai would be marked tomorrow (Friday). Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai, 80, breathed his last on May 5, 2021 during prison who had been put behind the bars in accordance with the black law Public Safety Act. Under this law, anyone could be kept in jail for the period of two years. One a few persons were allowed to participate in his burial formalities even though Kashmiris chanted slogans in favour of freedom of occupied Jammu and Kashmir on the occasion.
