More than 25 homes of Muslims bulldozed in New Delhi
NEW DELHI, Oct 29 (SABAH): Authorities in Indian capital New Delhi demolished a large number of houses belonging to Muslims.
The police assisting the staff of Delhi Development Authority (DDA) used brute force against the females protesting against the demolition which was carried out without any prior notice. The DDA officials and police even threatened the residents of the area that they would face the kind of bulldozing Muslims of Uttar Pradesh are experiencing under the Yogi Adityanath government.
Meanwhile, a civil society fact-finding team visited the area to ascertain the facts found out that DDA along with a large number of police force demolished over two dozen houses without any notice in Delhi’s predominantly Muslim locality, Kharak Riwara Satbari area.
The team comprised human rights activists Suman Ghosh from All India Progressive Women Association (AIPWA), Anupradha from All India Lawyers for Justice (AILAJ), Naushad Ahmed Raza from All India Student Association (AISA) and Akash Bhattacharya from All India Central Council of Trade Unions (AICCTU).
“The police used brute force and manhandled women injuring several of them seriously. They were not even provided time to rescue their household goods,” the team revealed.
Anupradha from All India Lawyers for Justice said that all the women were saying that when they asked for taking out their household appliances, they were not allowed to do so. She said that when the residents asked for any demolition order or notice, they were not shown any such thing.
The activists said the authorities were claiming that the land belonged to some private dealer company. The court had reportedly ordered to survey the land as to whom the land belonged to and to what extent the land was encroached, but so far no survey has been conducted.
