Modern equipment under Alkhidmat’s Disaster Management Program handed over to Alkhidmat Response Centres to deal with possible flood situation

LAHORE, July 15 (SABAH): A ceremony was held with regards to rescue team preparations to deal with recent rainfalls and possible flood situation and handing over state-of-the-art equipment to Alkhidmat Response Centres under Alkhidmat Foundation Pakistan’s Disaster Management Program.

In the ceremony, President of Alkhidmat Foundation Pakistan Prof Dr Hafeezur Rehman, Secretary General Syed Waqas Jafri, Vice presidents Syed Ihsanullah Waqas, Dr Mushtaq Ahmed Mangat, Zikrullah Mujahid, classified team head of 1122, Dr Farhan Khalid, Deputy Director Provincial Disaster Management Authority Malik Hameedullah, National Director of Alkhidmat Disaster Management Program Fazal Mehmood, regional teams of Alkhidmat Disaster Management and volunteers participated.

Talking to media persons, Prof Dr Hafeezur Rehman remarked that Disaster Management is identity of Alkhidmat Foundation and added that Alkhidmat’s volunteers rigorously assist their brothers and sisters during any natural calamity in Pakistan.

He further said that thwarting the natural calamities was not possible by the human beings but an apt training and precautionary measures could lessen the damage to some an extent.

Prof Dr Hafeezur Rehman noted that Alkhidmat’s volunteers had been given complete training of rescue and relief activities so that they could timey assist the victims in any untoward situation as well as the previous lives could be saved.

President of Alkhidmat Foundation Pakistan also mentioned that Alkhidmat Foundation Pakistan’s services during the previous year’s flood situation were unmatched ones.

On this occasion, modern equipment of recue was handed over to office-bearers of 13 Alkhidmat Response Centres which included generators, telescopic lights, mega phone, bolt cutter, hammers, spine board, wires, life jackets, drainage pumps, fire extinguisher, fire blankets, fire stand and others.

National Director of Alkhidmat Disaster Management Program Fazal Mehmood briefed about the preparations of the teams that moder recue instruments alongside four rescue motorbikes were being sent to Peshawar and Gilgit-Baltistan whereas two ambulances and one mobile health unit and disaster responded vehicle was also being sent in the field.

He further said that volunteers had been given training regarding flood management campus, coordination, first aid, dead body management, mountain rescue, fire emergencies and other methods of rescue.
