Miftah Ismail delivered against odds & an open rebellion from inside for which he deserves appreciation: Fawad Hasan Fawad

ISLAMABAD, July 16 (SABAH): Former principal secretary to former prime minister Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, Fawad Hasan Fawad has said that the staff level agreement with International Monitory Fund (IMF) is at best a good beginning and a short respite at the same time.

In a statement issued on twitter on Saturday, Fawad Hasan Fawad said that Finance Minister Dr. Miftah Ismail Ahmed has delivered against odds and an open rebellion from inside for which he deserves appreciation. He said that a tougher test awaits already as he starts the implementation process.

Fawad Hasan Fawad said that sustained, prudent and apolitical decision making is required to reap benefits from the pains that only the poor have suffered so far. He said that ensuring progress, equality and equitable distribution of public funds will be even more challenging in a populist culture. “And that too in a system with ingrained elite capture mechanisms. Taxing the retail and real estate sectors and managing the flight of capital will determine his status as the pressure groups grind their hatchets to get rid of him.
