ISLAMABAD, April 22 (SABAH): Chairman Senate Syed Yusuf Raza Gillani has said that the menace of plastic pollution is a pressing issue that demands immediate attention and action.

This was stated by Syed Yusuf Raza Gillani in his message on the occasion of the observance of Earth Day 2024 on Monday.

Syed Yusuf Raza Gillani said that as we commemorate Earth Day, we are compelled to reflect on the pressing environmental challenges facing our planet, particularly the detrimental impact of single-use plastic on our ecosystem. This year “Planet vs Plastic” resonates deeply with our commitment. The menace of plastic pollution is a pressing issue that demands immediate attention and action.

Syed Yusuf Raza Gillani said that we are facing an unprecedented crisis due to the proliferation of single-use plastics, which are devastating ecosystems, harming wildlife, and endangering human health. It is imperative that we take decisive steps to combat this crisis. Without active citizenship government cannot implement its policies and regulations. As no policy was successful without community engagement.

Syed Yusuf Raza Gillani said that on this Earth Day, I urge, to champion legislation and policies aimed at reducing plastic consumption, promoting recycling, and supporting innovative alternatives to single-use plastics. By mobilizing our collective efforts, we can make significant strides towards a cleaner, healthier planet for current and future generations.
