Masses of Malakand Division had been compelled to live lives in the environment of unrest since last two decades: Sirajul Haq


MALAKAND, Nov 22 (SABAH): Emir Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan Sirajul Haq has said that masses of Malakand Division had been compelled to live lives in the environment of unrest since last two decades. 

Emir Jamaat-e-Islami Sirajul Haq said this while addressing ‘Haqooq Malakand Division Grand Jirga’ on Tuesday. After the mass killing, he said the people were not ready to become scapegoats anymore. He said the nation was well cognizant of the fact that who was responsible for such circumstances which was why all political and religion were compelled to hold this grand jirga while putting aside their own differences.

Sirajul Haq said, “We demand establishment of peace and it is responsibility of State and government to ensure this. We demand from the central government to establish peace in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa including Malakand Division. A whole race in this division was nourished under the shadow of insecurity. Future of coming races ought to be peaceful. People should not be forced to tighten the noose around the rulers. If the situation remains as it, people will march to Islamabad or Peshawar.”

Emir JI Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Professor Muhammad Ibrahim Khan, MNA Abdul Akbar Chitrali, MPA Inayatullah Khan, Aawami National Party leader Sardar Hussain Babak, Bahadar Khan, Pakistan People’s Party provincial president Najmuddin Khan, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Haji Ahmed Zada, former governor KPK Engineer Shaukatullah, ex-MNA Sahibzada Tariqullah, Sahibzada Yaqoob Khan and other religious and political leaders participated in the grand jirga.

Sirajul Haq said people’s houses, orchards, business were ruined in the result of floods but the hardworking masses of Malakand Division resettled themselves again; however, precious lives which wasted due to unrest could not come back, saying this game has been ongoing since last 20 years. People will not allow the bloodshed anymore, he said, adding however it was not their responsibility to protect them while picking up guns as it lies upon the government and institutions to discharge the duties of protection and security.

Political parties, religious scholars, lawyers, traders and people from all walks of life participated in the grand jirga, he said, and added that it gave a message that the people were ready for establishing peace while putting aside of their differences.  He said, “We have no inclination towards fights. Our basic demand was peace which in accordance with the Pakistan’s Constitution and was fair and justified.
