Maryam reached Pakistan

ISLAMABAD, Jan 28 (SABAH): Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Senior Vice President Maryam Nawaz returned to Pakistan on Saturday after spending almost four months in London.

Addressing supporters and workers of PML-N, Maryam promised that her party will definitely resolve the challenge of inflation faced by the masses and she and her father, party supremo Nawaz Sharif, were well aware of the difficulties faced by the people.

She said that former prime minister and supreme leader of PML-N Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif was still the most popular leader in the country and he was cognizant of the problems of the people. “He will return to the country soon,” she claimed.

Commenting on the country’s economy, she said: “We have to support Federal Finance Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar to steer the country out of economic crisis and it will take time to do so. We will not sit until we succeed in changing the course of nation’s fate.” She added.

She claimed that the PML-N would secure majority in Punjab and the party workers were not hesitant to contest elections. “Nawaz Sharif and Shehbaz Sharif did not play vengeance game with you [Imran Khan],” she added.

A large number of party workers had gathered at Lahore’s Allama Iqbal International Airport to welcome the senior vice president. Moreover, banners and posters have been displayed on the way from the airport to Jati Umrah to welcome Maryam. She, after her arrival at Lahore airport, tweeted: “Pak Sar Zameen Shadbad.”

Sharing her vision about the PML-N, she said she wanted to strengthen the party through youth’s support and anyone parting ways with the party would not make a difference. No one could question Shahid Khaqan Abbasi’s attachment to the party, she said. “I am not happy to see any [political opponent] in the jail but whatever the PTI goes through will be tantamount to karma,” she said.

She said the previous government brought the country’s progress to a standstill and the PTI was responsible for economic woes the country was facing. “We have to steer the country out of crisis and I shall try my best to fulfill my duty,” she reiterated.

Maryam left for London on October 6 after getting her passport from the court which remained surrendered there for three years—to be with her father, Nawaz Sharif, and to undergo surgery.

On January 3, she was made senior vice president and was given the authority to organise the party at all levels as its chief organiser.
