Malaysian PM Anwar Ibrahim expresses grief & sorrow on the death of renowned economist Professor Khurshid Ahmed
KUALA LUMPUR, April 14 (SABAH): Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has expressed grief and sorrow on the death of prominent scholar, economist, politician, author, researcher, former senator, and founder of the Institute of Policy Studies (IPS), Professor Khurshid Ahmed.
In a statement issued on X, Anwar Ibrahim described the death of Professor Khurshid Ahmed as a significant loss to the Islamic world. Anwar Ibrahim said that Professor Khurshid Ahmed was not only a scholar but also a prominent thinker, a pioneer of modern Islamic economic thought and co-founder of the Islamic Foundation in the United Kingdom.
“My deepest condolences. May Allah SWT accept all his good deeds, forgive his sins, grant him peace in the hereafter and place him among the martyrs and the righteous” Anwar Ibrahim wrote. Anwar Ibrahim also expressed hope that Professor Khurshid Ahmed’s intellectual legacy will continue to inspire future generations.
It is worth mentioning here that Professor Khurshid Ahmed pasases away on Sunday in Leicester, United Kingdom at the age of 93 years. He was born on 23rd March, 1932 in New Delhi.
