Like past the possible extension in terms of Chief Justice and judges will be opposed: Liaqat Baloch
ISLAMABAD, May 8 (SABAH): Naib Emir Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan Liaqat Baloch has said that like past the possible extension in terms of Chief Justice and judges will be opposed.
Liaqat Baloch expressed these views while addressing national seminar “Tahafuz Ain-e-Pakistan kasie and kun” held under the auspices of Tehreek-e-Tahafuz Ain-e-Pakistan in Islamabad on Wednesday. Chief of Tehreek-e-Tahafuz Ain-e-Pakistan Mehmood Khan Achakzai presided over the national seminar.
Opposition leaders in Senate and National Assembly Senator Shibli Faraz, Omar Ayub Khan, lawyers and leaders of different parties also addressed the seminar. On this occasion, President Lahore High Court Bar Asad Manzoor Butt and member of Pakistan Bar Council Chaudhary Ishtiaq Ahmed Khan announced to support the movement.
Liaqat Baloch further said that establishment should end its role in politics and democracy, adding political leadership has to play the role of democratic leadership but not the army. He said they would accept elections without the interference of establishment. He said the political parties and political leadership should consider them under the Constitution and law.
He said negotiation of political parties should be done in the political way, adding they should not see towards army in this regard. He said establishment was strong in the past while today its position is weak. He said the political power should do political dialogue and in this regard civil society and media can play the role of bridge. He said, “We want to make it clear that we will not become part of any unnecessary amendment.”
He said that elections of 2024 were rigged ones and mandate was stolen, adding they reject the government made on the basis on Form 47. He said the country would be stable when government would be handed over to the parties having mandate while admitting real electoral outcomes.
Liaqat Baloch said that like past the possible extension in terms of Chief Justice and judges will be opposed. Addressing the seminar, former speaker National Assembly Asad Qaiser said that all the institutions should work while remaining within their limits, adding all will have to play their part for establishment of peace in the country. He said there is environment of disappointment in the country, adding they would continue their constitutional struggle.
