Liaqat Baloch cautions caretaker govt about potential consequences of independently handling issue of deporting Afghan refugees in an emergency situation
ISLAMABAD, Nov 08 (SABAH): Jamaat-e-Islami Acting Emir Liaqat Baloch has cautioned the caretaker government about the potential consequences of independently handling the issue of deporting Afghan refugees in an emergency situation.
In a statement issued from Mansoorah on Wednesday, Liaqat Baloch emphasized the need for the government to involve national leadership in formulating a comprehensive Afghan policy. Additionally, he stressed the importance of engaging in discussions with Kabul on this matter.
Liaqat Baloch underscored that the deportation of Afghan refugees would not only trigger a humanitarian crisis but also perpetuate longstanding geographical and legal disputes between the two countries. He emphasized the significance of fostering enduring relationships among Pakistan, Iran, and Afghanistan, which he believed would foster peace and prosperity in the region.
The acting chief of JI also called for the recovery of missing persons, criticizing the increasing incidents of people disappearing under the guise of security measures, which he argued were fueling concerns against the state. He highlighted the critical situation in Balochistan and the alarming state of law and order in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), emphasizing the state’s obligation to ensure the safety and security of its citizens. He stressed that the grievances of the people of Balochistan must be promptly addressed.
Liaqat Baloch emphasized that transparent elections were essential to achieving stability in the country. He warned that any lack of transparency in the polls would only invite further chaos. He pledged JI’s participation in all national and provincial assembly seats, urging the public to vote for JI to steer the country in the right direction. He held the previous rulers’ misguided policies accountable for the economic devastation.
The JI leader appealed to the rulers of the Muslim world to take concrete actions to protect Gaza from Israeli aggression.
