Level playing field available to all the parties for elections: Ahsan Iqbal

ISLAMABAD, Nov 14 (SABAH): Secretary General Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Ahsan Iqbal Chaudhry has said that a level playing field is available to all the parties for the elections.

Ahsan Iqbal expressed these views while talking to “SABAH” at the Parliament House on Tuesday. He said they are ready to reach an agreement and conduct regarding results of the elections and hoped that Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif would surely be the next prime minister of the country.

He further said that a policy would be put in place regarding election of the President but it would depend on results of the elections.

He said due to danger of defeat in the forthcoming elections, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has started to forge different excuses. He said only PML-N could present example of performance in the country while no other party can do this.

Ahsan Iqbal said those parties which are ready to make political alliance with PML-N, seat adjustment is possible with them; however PML-N would take part in the elections with its own manifesto as well as its own platform. He said those parties which were part of Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM), negotiations with them are underway.

PML-N secretary general further said that when electoral adjustments take place, the some points have to be agreed upon; however, manifesto of PML-N would have to be followed. He said that PML-N has been struggling since long and added we did not develop some area but focused the national development. He said they have vision of economic development of the country and their track record proves it. He said that a level playing field is available to all the parties for the elections and added no party could present its example of performance as can Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) present such an example. He said if someone wanted to know performance of PPP, he can see the present condition of Karachi.

Ahsan Iqbal further said can PTI present development of Peshawar as its example of performance that it would transform the entire country as it did with Peshawar. God willing we can say the way we developed Lahore, we would also develop Karachi, Peshawar and Quetta.

He said they are ready to reach an agreement and conduct regarding results of the elections and added a number of times they have requested PTI for this to happen but it did never showed seriousness in this regard.
