Led by Hafiz Naeemur Rehman, thousands have attended funeral prayer in absentia of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh at Liaqat Road,Rawalpindi
RAWALPINDI, July 31 (SABAH): Led by Jamaat-e-Islami Emir Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman, thousands have attended the funeral prayer in absentia of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh at Liaqat Road.
Hamas and Palestinian embassy delegations and leaders of the JI also attended. Funeral prayers for Haniyeh have also held in different cities including Karachi, Lahore, Peshawar and Quetta on the call of the JI chief.
As the JI sit-in in Rawalpindi entered the sixth day, Rehman postponed the several activities including the sit-in in front of Governor House Sindh in Karachi on Wednesday to mourn the martyrdom of the Mujahid-e-Palestine. He, however, announced that the JI sit-in would continue as the committee led by JI vice-emir Liaqat Baloch also held talks with the government representatives.
Later, Baloch told the media that the government was conveyed all the demands of the public, warning the rulers not to use the delaying tactics and it was better for the government to resolve the issue of electricity tariff as soon as possible.
Rehman condemned the Israeli act of terrorism in Tehran which led to the martyrdom of Haniyeh, demanding the rulers of the Muslim world and army of 40 Islamic countries take practical steps to teach the lesson to the Zionist regime, representing the sentiments of the Muslim ummah.
He conveyed condolences to the family of Haniyeh and people of Palestine, praying for the high places in Jannah for the head of the political bureau of Hamas.
He also demanded Islamabad host a summit of Muslim world and like-minded to stop the Israeli aggression in Gaza. He said Pakistan should declare Israel as terrorist state. He said the people of Pakistan are standing with their Palestinian brothers and sisters in their struggle against Zionist occupation and days are not so ahead when Masjid-e-Aqsa would be freed from the Israeli occupation.
He said people of Pakistan would never accept the tw0-state solution as proposed by some circles in the government. He said Palestinians have already won the ongoing war between Gazans and Israeli and out of revenge now the Zionist forces are targeting the children, refugee camps and women. He condemned the constant support of the US and some European countries to Israeli genocide.
Meanwhile, Rehman declared that there is no escape for the ruling elite as they must curtail their lavish lifestyles on state resources to provide relief to the public. He warned that if the government hesitates to meet public demands, the ongoing sit-ins would intensify, including demonstrations on main highways, in front of Parliament and D-Chowk, and even country-wide shutdowns. The movement for public rights would then lead to sending the government packing, he vowed.
