Kashmiris being thrown behind bars under the infamous Public Safety Act without any provocation: Saiyyed Abdullah Gilani
ISLAMABAD, Sep 20 (SABAH): The former Convener of All Parties Hurriyet Conference (APHC) and the former representative of Late Syed Ali Geelani, Saiyyed Abdullah Gilani has said that the BJP’s double standards are on full display amid the ongoing crackdown on religious organisations in occupied Kashmir.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, Saiyyed Abdullah Gilani said that on the one hand the ruling party in India has given a free hand to its members and functionaries to stoke religious hatred by spewing venom against Muslim community and on the other hand members of religious organisations in occupied Kashmir are being thrown behind bars under the infamous Public Safety Act (PSA) without any provocation.
He said that more than a hundred people belonging to various religious organisations have been arrested during the past few days under the PSA across Kashmir.
Saiyyed Abdullah Gilani said that the concerns are growing about the pathetic condition of Kashmiri prisoners as India launches yet another crackdown detaining more than a hundred Kashmiris in just the past few days. He said that Kashmiri detainees are subjected to extremely hostile conditions in Indian prisons and are often denied even the basic amenities.
