Kashmiri Hurriyat leader & JI J&K leader Ghulam Nabi Nowshri passes away, funeral prayers offered, laid to rest at Markaz JI AJ&K at Barma Pul in Islamabad
ISLAMABAD, June 24 (SABAH): Former member Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, Jamaat-e-Islami J&K leader and prominent Hurriyat leader Maulana Ghulam Nabi Nowshri passed away in Islamabad on Monday. His age was about 80 years. The funeral prayer of Ghulam Nabi Nowsheri was offered at Markaz Jamaat-e-Islami Azad Jammu and Kashmir at Barma Pul after Maghrib prayers.
Emir Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan Engineer Hafiz Naeemur Rehman led the funeral prayers. Thousands of people including Emir JI Azad Jammu and Kashmir Dr. Muhammad Mushtaq Khan, Director Jamaat-e-Islami Foreign Affairs Asif Luqman Qazi, former Emirs Abdul Rashid Turabi, Ijaz Afzal Khan and other leaders attended the funeral prayers.
While addressing the participants of the funeral prayers Emir JI Pakistan Engineer Hafiz Naeemur Rehman said that Maulana Ghulam Nabi Nowsheri has spent a life of an ideal person. He said that Maulana Nowsheri also faced hardships and imprisonments in occupied Kashmir, adding that Maulana Nowsheri competed with Indian suppression and Indian military and paramilitary forces in occupied Kashmir. Hafiz Naeemur Rehman said that Maulana Nowsheri secured historic victory in 1972 elections of Jammu and Kashmir Assembly.
Hafiz Naeemur Rehman said Maulana Nowsheri passed his whole life for the upholding of the religion. He said that Almighty Allah will host Maulana Nowsheri at Jannah. He said that armed and political struggle is continued in occupied Kashmir, adding that the armed struggle of Kashmiris is legitimate, indigenous, according to the international laws and according to the charter of the United Nations Organization (UNO), they could hold weapons against the suppression force, same like the Hamas could do in Palestine. Hafiz Naeemur Rehman said that we could not leave the Kashmiris alone and we will have to stand with them and will have to become their voice, adding that we have to fight for the Kashmiris at the diplomatic front and will also have to stand behind them. He said that Kashmir is not merely the piece of land but an ideology and belief, adding that Pakistan was established for the supremacy of Islam.
Emir JI Azad Jammu and Kashmir Dr. Muhammad Mushtaq Khan also addressed the participants of the funeral prayer.
The body of the late Ghulam Nabi Nowsheri was laid to rest at the Markaz Jamaat-e-Islami Azad Jammu and Kashmir at Barma Pul. He was buried beside his late wife.
Maulana Ghulam Nabi Nowshari was one of the senior leaders of Jamaat-e-Islami in occupied Jammu and Kashmir. He worked for Tehreek-e-Azadi Kashmir for a long time in association with the Tehreek leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani. Ghulam Nabi Nowsheri worked along with Syed Ali Shah Geelani as member of the J&K Legislative Assembly.
Ghulam Nabi Nowsheri migrated to Pakistan from occupied Kashmir in 1990s. He was active for the freedom movement of Kashmir from the last 30 years in Pakistan. Ghulam Nabi Nowsheri was ill from last many years and was undergoing dialysis twice in a week. Recently his book namely “Naqshe Na Tamaam” was published. In his book Ghulam Nabi Nowsheri analyzed the ongoing freedom struggle in Jammu and Kashmir.
Prior to this Ghulam Nabi Nowsheri’s book titled “Qissa Nisf Sadi Ka” was also published.
Emir JI Pakistan Engineer Hafiz Naeemur Rehman, Naib Emir Liaqat Baloch, Rashid Naseem, JI Pakistan Secretary General Ameerul Azim, JI Azad Jammu and Kashmir Emir Dr. Muhammad Mushtaq Khan, former emir JI AJ&K Abdul Rashid Turabi, Ijaz Afzal Khan, Dr. Khalid Mahmood Khan, All Parties Hurriyat Conference Jammu and Kashmir Convener Ghulam Muhammad Safi and other leaders have expressed deep grief and sorrow on the death of Ghulam Nabi Nowsheri and have paid rich tribute to his services for the Kashmir cause.
