July 13 incident cornerstone of ongoing freedom struggle: DFP Spokesman

SRINAGAR, July 12 (SABAH): Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party (PDP) has paid rich tributes to July 13 martyrs, who on this day in 1931 were gunned down by the Dogra army outside the Srinagar Central Jail premises.

In a statement issued on Friday, the DFP Spokesman Advocate Arshad Iqbal, while recalling the supreme sacrifices of Kashmiri martyrs, said that the valiant struggle of Kashmiris against despotic Dogra Maharaja was a cornerstone of the ongoing struggle for right to self-determination.

Reiterating Kashmiris’ resolve to carry forward the mission of martyrs he said that the Kashmiri youth who have taken the mantle of resistance were fully determined to take the ongoing struggle to its logical conclusion. Reiterating his party’s support to APHC’s call for a complete strike on the day, the DFP spokesman urged the people of Kashmir to hold prayer meetings on the day and visit the Marty’s graveyard to pay homage to the brave sons of the soil.

Stressing the need for an early and amicable solution of Kashmir dispute the spokesman said that a just and equitable solution of the lingering dispute was essentially imperative to ensure durable peace in South Asian region
