Judicial Commission of Pakistan by majority of its total membership approves appointment of 10 additional judges in PHC

ISLAMABAD, Feb 01 (SABAH): The meeting of the Judicial Commission of Pakistan, chaired by Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Yahya Khan Afridi was held for considering the nomination for appointment of Additional Judges in the Peshawar High Court in the Conference Room of the Supreme Court of Pakistan, Islamabad.

In the meeting, following persons have been nominated for appointment as Additional Judges in the Peshawar High Court, by majority of its total membership. Muhammad Tariq Afridi, Advocate Supreme Court, Abdul Fayaz, Advocate Supreme Court, Ms. Farah Jamshed, District and Sessions Judge, Inam Ullah Khan, District and Sessions Judge, Sabit Ullah Khan, Advocate Supreme Court, Salah ud Din, Advocate, Sadiq Ali, Advocate Supreme Court, Syed Mudasser Ameer, Advocate Supreme Court, Aurangzeb, Advocate and Qazi Jawad Ehsanullah, Advocate Supreme Court.

The Commission unanimously decided that nominees who did not secure the required majority of the total membership of the Commission for finalization of their nominations this time may be renominated for future vacancies. The Chairperson also appreciated the services rendered by the staff of the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) for assisting the members in using the web portal for the proceeding of the meeting.

According to “SABAH” sources, all the nominees of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government failed to secure the approval of the majority of the Judicial Commission of Pakistan. The nominees of Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Yahya Afridi, Chief Justice of Peshawar High Court Justice Ibrahim Khan, representative of Pakistan Bar Council Akhtar Hussain, representative of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Bar Council, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz and Pakistan People’s Party were succeeded in security majority votes of the JCP.
