JKLF pays homage to martyrs of 1931 on their martyrdom anniversary

ISLAMABAD, July 12 (SABAH): On the eve of “Martyrdom Day” the leadership of the Jammu Kashmir Liberation front (JKLF) paid homage to the martyrs of 13th July, 1931 who were indiscriminately fired upon by the forces of the then Maharaja of the State of Jammu Kashmir in Srinagar while they were raising their voice for the resumption of civil rights of the people of the State. This historic incident is termed as a cornerstone in the history of the freedom struggle of Jammu Kashmir, and hence remembered since then.

In a statement issued from the party’s central information office, the JKLF leaders also paid rich tributes to the great son of the soil and former trade union leader belonging to the minority Pandit community of the State, late Sampat Prakash, for the gallantry and exemplary role he played for the cause of freedom movement and for safeguarding the national ethos between the different communities of the State. On the first death anniversary of a companion and an associate of incarcerated JKLF Chairman Muhammad Yasin Malik, late Sampat Prakash was remembered with tributary words by the party leaders, the statement read.

According to the JKLF chief spokesman, the party leaders while vowing to continue the freedom struggle to its logical conclusion of independence, were unanimous in saying that the people of the State of Jammu Kashmir, of whatsoever religion, caste, creed and area of the State they belong to, as a nation, are the sole representatives to the Kashmir issue having right to decide about the future of their motherland.

The party leaders Khawaja Saifudin, Hafiz M. Anwar Samavi, Saleem Haroon, Zahid Hussain, Sajid Siddiqi, Khawaja Manzoor A. Chishti, Javed Hanif, Arbab Hussain Advocate, Sardar M. Anwar and others in an informal meeting at the central information office, while condemning the continued and unabated Indian State terrorism in Jammu Kashmir, demanded immediate and simultaneous withdrawal of forces from the entire disputed State of Jammu Kashmir, the statement read. They voiced for a common and unanimous National Kashmir Policy for all State based political parties and their leadership to follow. The party leadership also demanded an immediate and unconditional release of all pro-freedom Kashmiri leaders and their associates languishing in Indian jails for years together including Muhammad Yasin Malik, the JKLF Chairman.

Meanwhile the JKLF chief spokesman, Muhammad Rafiq Dar while discussing the merits of the proposed Youth Conference in UK, to be hosted by JKLF on Sunday, July 14 in Nottingham said that the conference shall prove as a landmark in the history of Kashmiri Youth Diaspora. The conference is aimed to provide a platform for young Kashmiris in the UK where they could learn and educate themselves about the Kashmir issue, where they could find the opportunity to suggest, lead and represent their national liberation movement at world fora’s, the spokesman added.

Muhammad Rafiq Dar hoped for the participation of a good number of Kashmiri youngsters in the said conference and praised the party leadership in UK for the tremendous efforts being done for its success.
