JI’s mayor & team will uplift the mega city & its outskirts as JI did serve megalopolis in the past: Hafiz Naeemur Rehman

KARACHI, April 08 (SABAH): Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Karachi Ameer Engineer Hafiz Naeemur Rehman has vowed that the JI’s mayor and team will uplift the mega city and its outskirts as the JI did serve the megalopolis in the past.

The JI Karachi chief expressed these views while addressing a mass-iftar reception held here at Ittehad Town area of Karachi.

Speaking on the occasion, Hafiz Naeemur Rehman said that former mayors Abdul Sattar Afghani and Nematullah — both belonging to the JI — had served Karachi with honesty and changed the face of Karachi. He said that the JI will continue the saga of progress and development of the city from the same point it was discontinued at the culmination of the tenure of Nematullah Khan. He said that the scale — the electoral symbol of the JI — became the insignia of progress, development and prosperity of the city.

Hafiz Naeemur Rehman further said that majority of Karachiites have expressed their confidence and faith in the JI despite all tactics employed by the Pakistan People Party to create confusion over polls in the city. The JI came forward as the single largest party in the city both in terms of popular votes and seats.

He said that the Election Commission of Pakistan also plays the role of a facilitator for the PPP. It has announced April 18 — the 27th Ramazan — as date for polling in the remaining 11 union councils in the city. He appealed masses in the said union councils to vote for the JI on April 18 for the sake of the city’s future.

He said that the PPP employed all pre-poll and post-poll rigging tactics to acquire a fake majority in the city council. He said that the PPP installed biased returning officers, district returning officers and pressurized presiding officers and other staffers to change the results in the favour of the PPP.

He highlighted an example of a union council where the JI secured 5400 votes and the PPP stood third in the local government elections but later the corrupt elements changed the results propelling the PPP to the first position from the fourth.

Hafiz Naeemur Rehman continued that the PPP and other parties of its kind always chant the mantra of democracy but their very own foundations are based on dynastic politics. A worker, a Jiayala — no matter how competent he or she is — would not be considered against a member of the ruling family, he said, adding that in the family business parties like the PPP, a jiyala is not considered more than a slave.

He once again remained the PPP leadership that the JI will form the mayor in the city and not any jiyala associated with the corrupt party.

JI leaders Maulana Fazal Ahad Hanif, Dr. Noor-ul-Haq, Hameedullah Khan, Syed Islam, Ishfaq Hussain and others also addressed the program.
