JI to honor 4 million women factory workers, resolve their issues if elected; Naeemur Rehman
KARACHI, June 26 (SABAH): Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Karachi chief Engr Hafiz Naeemur Rehman has said that the party would honor the 4 million women factory workers in Karachi and resolve their issues on priority basis if elected in the upcoming local bodies polls.
The JI leader expressed these views on Saturday while separately addressing a women convention and a party event.
Engr Naeemur Rehman said that the government and the candle mafia always talk about the rights for working women but practically the women were facing acute hardships. He added that majority of them have no other option but to travel through local transport in a miserable condition.
He further said that majority of women in the workforce in our society step out for work due to financial hardships. However, he continued, the government holds only seminars on their issues just for consumption of their foreign masters and to please some particular quarters, instead of taking concrete steps to mitigate their hardships.
The JI leader said that unfortunately the entire city was in a very bad shape. On an average a student in the city has to spend Rs 240 on his bike, similar is the situation of labors and other people belonging to lower middle class.
He added that after the recent hike in petrol prices, people in major cities of Punjab shifted to mass transit system but Karachiites have no such option due to corruption and the culture within the government.
On the occasion, the JI leader shed light in detail on the contribution of the local governments belonging to the JI. He also highlighted the water supply projects, mass transit and educational projects launched by Nematullah Khan. He added that all the projects were later ruined by other regimes just for political gains.
He said that the JI was taking part in the local bodies elections as the party has become a ray of hope for masses and it is a golden opportunity for Karachiites to change the fate of the city and their future generations.
