Jaranwala’s heartrending incidents are alarming for us: Ahsan Iqbal

ISLAMABAD, Aug 17 (SABAH): Secretary General Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and former federal minister for planning, development and special initiatives, Ahsan Iqbal Chaudhry has said that Jaranwala’s heartrending incidents were alarming for us as some religious groups on their own tried to create fanaticism in people for their political motives.

Ahsan Iqbal expressed these views through a statement issued on Twitter here on Thursday. He said there is no acceptability of grouping in an Islamic State as setting worship places of other religions on fire is not service of any kind to the religion.

PML-N’s Secretary General said that law and courts are working in the country and added the State institutions must control these groups as they were nourished in a particular period. “No one could be allowed to take law into hands as law prevails for each and every crime,” former minister remarked.

Ahsan Iqbal maintained, “We achieved Pakistan because Muslims as a minority used to consider them unsafe in united India. If any minority considers itself unsafe in Pakistan it is tantamount to negation of Ideology of Pakistan. The way youths between 12-14 being seen with sticks in footage is thought provoking for us and reminds us Sialkot’s heartrending incidents.”

He said that all political parties and religious scholars should work in unison for promoting harmony in the society. “Ahead of this, Manipur’s incidents in India used to attract the world towards ill attitude with the minorities. This incident diverted the attention of the world towards Pakistan. Is it a service to the religion or it created a good name for the country?” he questioned.

Ahsan Iqbal further said that Christian community actively participated in “Freedom Movement” and added in creation of Pakistan they are equal partners as those of Muslims. “Pakistan is a bouquet which has to be beautified by all of us together. We have to reside here with harmony. It is education of our religion,”
