Jamaat-e-Islami will keep continue its protest against inflation, corruption & interest-based system in country: Sirajul Haq
ISLAMABAD, July 15 (SABAH): Emir Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan Sirajul Haq has said that Jamaat-e-Islami will keep continue its protest against inflation, corruption and interest-based system in the country.
Sirajul Haq expressed these views during in an interview with a private TV channel. “People know well about Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI). Now onwards if free and transparent elections sans controlled polling stations and Election Commission of Pakistan are conducted then the Jamaat-e-Islami will be the one and only choice available with the people,” he added.
“Our system of election should be altered. It should be held on the basis of proportional representation so that our politics, voters and polling stations may get rid of electables, cruel landlords, corrupt capitalists besides other mafias. Masses ought to use their right to vote in the light of party manifesto and leader’s vision,” he said.
Sirajul Haq said there should be independent Election Commission of Pakistan, proportional representation and implementation on Article 62, 63. Money must not make the mare go as well as there should be no interference from the establishment side in the elections. Politics needs to be given a level-playing field so that masses may cast their vote as per their wishes which has been scarce commodity over here till-date.
Sirajul Haq said that this was the one and only motive behind launching the Train March that the people are inculcated awareness about the actual reasons behind poverty, anarchy and inflation prevailing in the country; that are their own rulers belonging to PDM and PTI are responsible for all the mess the country is in.
Due to faulty policies of the present and past regimes, people are being damaged, he said. Rs 53 thousand billion debt was taken in the light of decisions taken by incumbent and previous governments whose five ministers including Asad Umar, Hammad Azhar, Dr. Abdul Hafeez Sheikh, Shaukat Tareen and Dr. Miftah Ismail bowed down before the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
Inflation is unbearable as it has worsened the lives of people, he said, adding it also exacerbated corruption in the country wherein all the major political parties are found to be responsible in this regard. Since last 14 years, the Pakistan People’s Party has been governing Sindh whereas since nine years PTI is governing KPK. He said, ironically centre is being ruled by the father while Punjab by his son, adding corruption has always increased during periods of said three parties.
All the ruling class is torchbearer of interest-based system and its protectors, he said, adding the same was conveyed to masses during the Train March that these rulers are behind their destruction indeed. He said that citizens welcomed Train March and participated in the gatherings, adding the protest was pending with a view of Eidul Azha celebrations.
Nowadays, all the parties are part of ruling setup while Jamaat-e-Islami is a real representative of the people that talks about their own issues, the Emir Jamaat-e-Islami Sirajul Haq said, adding it sheds light on issues of poor segments of the society, the growers, the labourers and the students. No other option has been left with the people excluding PDM and PTI as for as the matter of casting vote is concerned, he said. He said, on one side they rule while on the other side they hold political gatherings.
Sirajul Haq said they have learned a lot from the history and don’t want to repeat it as “we staged protests. We sacrificed. Our workers embraced martyrdoms while on the contrary Pakistan Muslim League proved to be beneficiary of our sacrifices. Hence, now onwards, Jamaat-e-Islami will do whatever will be necessary to open the doors of government for common people.
