Jamaat-e-Islami to start ‘Train March’ in a protest against inflation, corruption & interest-based economy from Rahim Yar Khan tomorrow
LAHORE/GUJRAT, June 24 (SABAH): Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan will start “Train March” in a protest against inflation, corruption and interest-based economy from Rahim Yar Khan tomorrow (Saturday).
Led by JI Emir Sirajul Haq, the three-day march will conclude in Rawalpindi where he will also address the public meeting. “The JI is holding the march for the rights of the people,” said Sirajul Haq in a statement issued from Mansoorah on Friday. He said the government had prepared the budget on the dictation of the IMF, leaving no space for the welfare of common man. The budget document, he added, was death warrant for the poor. It had become impossible for a common man to even take a breath in prevailing environment, he said, adding people were starving and unable to meet both ends due to inflation.
The JI believed the riba was the root cause of prevailing economic crisis and it had already warned the government to take measures in the budget to introduce interest-free economy in light of landmark decision of the Federal Shariah Court but the rulers rather made a surrender before the IMF and prepared budget on the dictation of the global lender, he said.
Corruption plagued the society and the ruling elite was looting the resources of the country for decades, he said. Sirajul Haq said the time had approached the rulers made some sacrifices instead of burdening poor masses with massive taxation. The JI chief held the three parties (the PML-N, the PPP and the PTI) equally responsible for the political and economic crises. It was due to their (three parties) ill-conceived policies that Pakistan had reached to the situation where it had no money even to pay the salaries of the government employees, he said.
Sirajul Haq appealed to the people to ensure their presence in the march. Standing against injustice and raising voice for their rights was the need of the hour, he added.
JI Information Secretary Qaisar Sharif said the train march will be held in three phases—from Rahim Yar Khan to Multan on first day, from Multan to Lahore on second day and from Lahore to Rawalpindi on third and last day. He said JI emir will address the gathering at different railway stations during the march.
Meanwhile Sirajul Haq has said that “Train March” is a war against this cruel, corrupt and outdated system. He said this while addressing workers convention at Gujrat on Friday. The nation should stand for safeguarding their rights by being part of the Jamaat-e-Islami protest, he said, deploring the fact that it has become very tough for the poor to manage two time meal in wake of inability and corruption of rulers. The inflation and unemployment have taken away each and everything from the downtrodden masses, he added.
On one side there are laughters of the rich while on the side there are starvations for the needy and the poor, he lamented, adding “by sitting on the piles of wealth, the monsters have snatched away the basic needs from the unprivileged segment of the society.”
Moreover, Sirajul Haq said that millions of youth are unemployed, millions are out-of-school children, 80 % of the people are deprived of safe drinking water besides many are others who don’t have resources for their treatment at the hospitals. The root cause behind these issues is insincerity, incapability and corruption of the ruling class, he pointed out, adding the Jamaat-e-Islami will actively represent the nation in the Houses and streets.
On this occasion, JI North Punjab Emir Dr. Tariq Saleem was also present. Sirajul Haq said that there has been no shortage of resources, neither before nor now but the real cause behind the issues is corrupt system besides its protectors.
He said that on one side all the three major political parties are ruling in the Centre and provinces while on the other side crises are worsening with each passing day. Ironically, he said that the rulers’ who have been ruling this land of ours since long, announce that only they may sort out the issues of the masses.
The nation asks a query despite being remaining rulers of the country since seven decades, what have they delivered, he said, adding as yet the game is not over as we see all the major political parties now stand exposed before the nation fully. Now time has come to rely upon the corruption-free Jamaat-e-Islami by sending these feudal landlords back to their homes, he said, adding only Jamaat-e-Islami is working as true opposition in the country.
