Jamaat-e-Islami to stage march on ‘Fraud Census Unacceptable’ on Shahrah-e-Faisal, Karachi tomorrow: Hafiz Naeemur Rehman

KARACHI, April 28 (SABAH): Chief of the Karachi chapter of Jamaat-e-Islami Engineer Hafiz Naeemur Rehman while announcing to stage a march titled “Fraud Census Unacceptable” on Shahrah-e-Faisal tomorrow (Sunday) has stated that at least one-half of Karachi’s population has not been counted during the recent census.

Hafiz Naeemur Rehman expressed these views while addressing a press conference held in connection with recent census at the city at Idara Noor-e-Haq on Saturday, announced to stage a march titled “Fraud Census Unacceptable” on Shahrah-e-Faisal tomorrow (Sunday) at 4:00 PM.

He stressed upon the people from all walks of life to ensure their participation in the march for getting the census rectified. He noted the city’s population is over 35 million while it has been shown mere 14 million.

“Until and unless population of the city is not counted as it is, Jamaat-e-Islami will never accept such a census. Representation should be given in provincial assembly after rectifying figures of population in the census besides provision of resources in the light of population’s figures,” he emphasized.

In the past, he deplored the parties who got mandate of the city sold it out to the thanes and feudal lords and added even at present those parties were weaving conspiracies. He deplored they sold out resources and mandate of the city for the sake of obtaining only a few ministries.

Hafiz Naeemur Rehman stated that former president Asif Ali Zardari has never launched welfare project in the port city and always played havoc with rights of Karachiites. While giving a sharp dig, he stated Sindh chief minister talked about rural Sindh but didn’t discuss Karachi. “We are in favour of progress of Sindh including Karachi. We want to see an end to suppression and barbarism orchestrated by thanes and feudal lords,” he wished.
