Jalil Abbas Jilani underlines close cooperation & multidisciplinary int’l partnerships to deal with global challenges

BRUSSELS, Feb 02 (SABAH): Foreign Minister Jalil Abbas Jilani participated in the 3rd Indo-Pacific Ministerial Forum, in Belgium at the invitation of High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell Fontelles.

According to a statement issued by Foreign Office Spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch, FM Jalil Abbas Jilani also joined the Roundtable on ‘Shared Prosperity, Economic Resilience, and Investments’. In his remarks, FM outlined the future trajectory of global partnerships. He underlined:

Shared responsibility to move away from divisive bloc politics and notions of great power contestation.

Close cooperation and multidisciplinary international partnerships to deal with global challenges.   

Proposed a three tier approach involving development of international digital cooperation hubs, mechanisms for combating climate change and South-South Triangular Cooperation.

Meanwhile Foreign Minister Jalil Abbas Jilani met the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borell Fontelles on the sidelines of the 3rd Indo-Pacific Ministerial Forum on Friday in Brussels. They discussed global and regional issues and underscored vitality of diplomacy in resolving disputes. They highlighted the need to develop partnerships for tackling global challenges. They agreed to further deepen Pakistan-EU relations in line with the Strategic Engagement Plan (2019).

Meanwhile Jalil Abbas Jilani met with Belgian Foreign Minister Hadja Lahbib. They reviewed Pakistan-Belgium bilateral relations and expressed satisfaction on their positive trajectory. They discussed cooperation in trade, education, people-to-people contacts

They agreed on the importance of continued engagement and collaboration to strengthen bilateral relations. They explored new avenues of cooperation for mutual prosperity.
