‘Jail Bahro Tehreek’ was kicked off, which was an extension of the Haqiqi Azadi movement: Imran Khan
LAHORE, Feb 22 (SABAH): Lashing out at the prime minister for shedding crocodile tears, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman and former prime minister Imran Khan said that the ‘Jail Bahro Tehreek’ was kicked off, which was an extension of the Haqiqi Azadi movement started from April 10 last year to rid the country of the cable of crooks and to ensure supremacy of law and constitution.
Imran Khan said that the nation has become fearless after the launch of the PTI’s court arrest drive from Lahore on Wednesday. PTI Chairman, in a televised address to the nation, said that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif once again asked the nation to be prepared for fresh wave of inflation in the country. Imran Khan said that it was social media era and reminded him of his old statements against the PTI government and their long marches against inflation.
He said that Shehbaz Sharif, Zardari, Nawaz and Bajwa with support of their foreign conspirators ousted PTI well-performing government.
PTI Chairman stated that price of electricity, petrol, and other commodities increased three-fold and the dollar went up by Rs100 in the past few months, adding that the imported government broke 50 years old record of inflation.
Imran Khan stated that those in power claimed to fix the economic woes within 10 months, but have actually destroyed the country and compounded the public miseries manifolds. He went on to say that the government of thieves brought the booming economy to its knees, who mercilessly plundered the national kitty for the last thirty years.
PTI Chairman said that gang of thieves should focus on bringing their ill-gotten wealth back to the country instead of calling for more sacrifices from the people. “Do not fool nation by selling cars and houses. If you are really concerned then bring half of your plundered wealth made from corruption back to Pakistan,” he said.
Imran Khan went to say that the nation was ready for a revolution as they would be on the streets if the election in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkwa were delayed beyond the mandated 90 days. He admired the people of Lahore and the party senior leadership for coming out during the court arrest drive and surrendering themselves voluntarily for arrest. He also commended them for the overwhelming response when he reached court to secure bail.
PTI Chairman stated that Haqiqi Azadi movement was launched to ensure supremacy of law and constitution. He said that the worst atrocities were unleased over the peaceful PTI protestors; however, he warned that the police should obey the law and did not transgress their powers. He vowed that action would be taken against those police officers who unleased brutal forces against PTI workers.
Imran Khan said even the PML-N’s “blue-eyed” NAB Chairman Aftab Sultan had stepped down from his post in protest against undue interference in his job. PTI Chairman revealed that 70 cases were lodged against him but he vowed that the real independence movement would be continued come what may. He said that corruption cases worth Rs1100 billion were waived off but still the government wanted the people to make sacrifices.
PTI Chairman warned that caretaker governments of Punjab and KP for not abiding by the constitution, adding that He said rather than calling for sacrifices by the people, adding that the interim governments cannot stay in power for more than 90 days. He stated that Article 6 should be applied against the Chief Election Commissioner for not fulfilling his constitutional obligations. “It seems like that Shehbaz is ruling in one province and Fazlure Rehman in another,” he said.
PTI Chairman asked the people to be ready to defend the constitution. He hailed those who have volunteered to be part of the Jail Bahro Tehreek. He said that huge number of people and leaders were ready to present themselves for voluntarily arrest in Peshawar and Rawalpindi, indicating that the change was imminent and the movement was unstoppable.
