It would be better for the anarchist group to not create such situation in which need of using teargas arises: Rana Sanaullah


ISLAMABAD, July 02 (SABAH): Minister for Interior Affairs Rana Sanuallah Khan has said that anarchist group had complained that the expired teargas was used against them, adding that the teargas purchased by his predecessor has ended and now if needed they will receive an effective, fresh and updated everything. Rana Sanaullah said that it would be better for the anarchist group to not create such situation in which need of using teargas is aroused.

This was stated by Rana Sanaullah Khan while addressing a press conference in Islamabad on Saturday. On the occasion former federal minister Dr. Tariq Fazal Chaudhry, former MNA Anjum Aqeel Khan and PML-N leader Raja Waqar Ahmed Mumtaz were also present.

Rana Sanaullah Khan said that installing safe city cameras in big cities of the country is the need of the hour. He said that total coverage of CCTV cameras in federal capital Islamabad is 30 percent, adding that Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has decided to enhance the coverage of the CCTV cameras in Islamabad 100 percent during the current financial year. He said that for installation of cameras at important locations Rs 40 million has been released to the safe city authority.

Rana Sanaullah announced an increase in the salaries of Islamabad police. “They had always demanded that their salaries should be equal to those of Punjab police. And we have finally accepted their demands in this budget.” This will have an impact of Rs788 million on the budget, he added.

Rana Sanaullah also revealed that payments of Rs1.2 billion to the families of martyrs, which were pending for the past four years, would immediately be disbursed as well. Separately, a 100-bed hospital will also be built for the Islamabad police, he continued, adding that this was important because police officers risked their lives for the security and protection of the public. “I am thankful to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif who didn’t delay this project despite the current financial crunch.”

The minister further announced that the government had increased the ration allowance of Frontier Corps officers and it would now be equal to that of other armed forces. “FC officers didn’t have any riot equipment and they would just help the police. So we have decided to give funds for riot training of 2,000 officers,” he added.

Rana Sanaullah said the state has got rid of threats and pressures of any anarchist group to besiege Islamabad or go towards D-chowk forever. Replying a question, Rana Sanaullah said that the 100 percent safe city coverage will be ensured in police stations and jails, adding that if anyone tortures in police station and it is captured then those responsible could not save themselves from punishment. He said senior journalist Mohsin Jameel Baigh was tortured in the police station and video to torture was sent to the prime minister house. He said that torture is against the dignity of man and that is violation to the dignity of a man. He said that in no way permission of torture could be given and could be tolerated.

Replying another question, Rana Sanaullah said that we are winning the seat of Faisalabad but we are facing some problems and due to some reasons we could not address these problems aggressively. Rana Sanaullah said that we want to respect the people and institutions and no one should misuse his powers. He said that if Imran Khan did not scare from arrest then why he was sitting in Peshawar and why he secured bail before arrest. He said that whole PTI in groups in approaching courts for securing pre-arrest bails. He said that Imran Khan should avoid politics of unrest and anarchy and he should carryout peaceful and national politics. He said that whole nation on one side and all political forces are on one side, adding that all people jointly want to resolve the political, administrative and economic problems of the country but one party is separately standing and it is abusing all opponents and doing politics of creating unrest. He said that this party should avoid this kind of politics.

Rana Sanaullah said that it is our effort that there should political consensus and there should be charter of economy so that the country could move forward. He said that the basis of negotiations with TTP is that these will be held under the constitution and no negotiations will be held with them which is over and above the constitution and no agreement will be made with them, adding that this has been permitted by parliamentary committee on national security to military leadership and whatever progress will be made in this regard will be conveyed to the parliamentary committee on national security and later on this matter will be debated in the parliament. 

Earlier on Saturday, Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah paid rich tribute to the martyrs of Police for their sacrifices in maintaining law and order.

Addressing a ceremony to pay tribute to martyrs of the police in Islamabad on Saturday, Rana Sanaullah Khan said the sacrifices of martyrs can change the fate of nations.

The Minister regretted that payment of compensation to the families of martyrs was delayed. He said Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif immediately allowed disbursing an amount of 1.22 billion rupees to families of martyrs.

He said over 12 thousand officials from Rangers, Police and army have been martyred in war against terrorism. He said Pakistan also faced damage to its economy worth 150 billion dollars in fight against terrorism.

Commenting on the economic condition of the country, Rana Sanaullah said government took tough decision of increasing the prices of the petroleum products to save Pakistan from economic crisis. He said all political parties are striving hard to put Pakistan on right track. The Minister lamented former prime minister Imran Khan for pursuing the politics of hatred and anarchy. He said that stubbornness and arrogance destroys not only people but nations. He said that Imran Khan could not do anything during four years, adding that Imran Khan only changed the fate of Farah Gogi and Ahsan Jameel Gujjar whose properties are unearthing everywhere. He said that Imran Khan is unable to respond questions about Farah Gogi and Ahsan Jameel Gujjar.
