Islamic countries & int’l community should recognize Taliban govt: Mullah Mohammad Hassan

KABUL, Jan 19 (SABAH): Prime Minister Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA) Mullah Mohammad Hassan Akhundzada while appealing to Islamic countries and international community to recognize Taliban government has said that we welcome the humanitarian assistance of the world. He said that after overcoming the current crisis, Afghanistan will also need development assistance but we need to think about the development assistance in a different way.

Mullah Mohammad Hassan Akhundzada was addressing the first economic conference in Kabul.

According to the media reports, representatives of 20 countries attended the conference and representatives of 40 countries attended the conference online. During the first economic conference of Taliban, economic situation of Afghanistan, private sector and banking sector issues were discussed.

While addressing the conference Prime Minister Mullah Mohammad Hassan Akhundzada said that all the conditions have been fulfilled and now the international community should recognize the Taliban government in the country officially, adding that I especially demand from the Islamic countries to move forward and should recognize us and he is hopeful that the country will progress with fast pace after this.

“The IEA has fulfilled all the conditions that are sufficient and important for the legitimacy of a recognition. World must dare to recognize the IEA and help the Afghan people” he said.

He said that the restrictions should be eased regarding the provision of assistance because the economic crisis is worsening due to the restrictions. He said that short term assistance is not the solution, adding that basically we should try to find the solution of the basic problems.

Mullah Mohammad Hassan Akhundzada said that Taliban government enjoys full capacity to eradicate corruption and ensure security and security has been established in the country. He also demanded of the international institutions to make investment in Afghanistan. He said those who level allegation of violation of human rights on us, are violating the human rights while imposing restrictions.

The representatives of the United Nations were also present in the conference. Special Representative of the UN Secretary General for Afghanistan Deborah Lyons on the occasion said that economic crisis in Afghanistan is a serious matter, which needs to be resolved by all the countries. She said that United Nations is working on the restoration of the Afghan economy and resolving the economic issues.

On the occasion Afghan Foreign Minister Mawlawi Amir Khan Muttaqi said that Taliban government wants economic relations with the international community. He said that the United States should restore the assets of Afghan Central Bank and should remove all the hurdles for humanitarian organizations and after people in transferring money. The conference was aired on the Afghan national media.

Meanwhile Spokesman of Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA) Zabihullah Mujahid in a statement issued on twitter on Wednesday said that today’s Economic Conference is attended by representatives of 20 foreign countries physically and 40 countries online, all discussing Afghanistan’s economic, private sector and banking issues, in order to find appropriate solutions to the crisis.
