Islam does not allow violence or oppression against women: Dr. Humaira Tariq
LAHORE, July 12 (SABAH): Secretary General Jamaat-e-Islami Women Wing Pakistan Dr. Humaira Tariq has said that the male members are the head of the household and the woman are considered the king and queen of the house, respectively, with defined responsibilities and spheres of influence according to Allah’s commands. She said that awareness of one’s rights and duties and managing household affairs in a just manner is the key to a successful life. Islam does not allow violence or oppression against women and children, she said.
These views were expressed by Dr. Humaira Tariq in her statement regarding the violence against Ayesha Jehanzeb by her husband.
Dr. Humaira Tariq said that it is regrettable that despite the approval of the Protection of Women Bill in Pakistan, men continue to treat their women inhumanely. She termed the arrest of the person who committed violence against Ayesha Jehanzeb as a timely action and demanded that Ayesha Jehanzeb be provided with justice.
She called for legal action to be taken under the Protection of Women Bill and for the protection of women and children rights to be ensured.
