Ishaq Dar congratulates on Pak’s election as a non-permanent Member of UNSC for the term 2025-26 with overwhelming support of 182 votes

ISLAMABAD, June 06 (SABAH): Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar has extended his heartiest congratulations on Pakistan’s election as a non-permanent Member of the United Nations Security Council for the term 2025-26 with overwhelming support of 182 votes.

In a statement issued on X on Thursday, Ishaq Dar said Pakistan looks forward to upholding its commitment to the UN Charter’s vision of preventing war and promoting peace; fostering global prosperity; and promoting universal respect for human rights.

“We remain determined to contributing effectively towards the maintenance of international peace and security in line with UNSC’s mandate” Ishaq Dar said.

“I take this opportunity to commend the excellent election campaign and teamwork by MOFA @ForeignOfficePk, Pakistan Mission to the UN, and all our Missions abroad” Ishaq Dar wrote.

Meanwhile the British High Commission in Pakistan has congratulated Pakistan on eighth election to the UN Security Council for 2025-26.

“Congratulations Pakistan on your successful eighth election to the UN Security Council for 2025-26! The UK looks forward to working with Pakistan on areas of joint importance” the British High Commission in Pakistan said in a statement issued on X on Thursday.
